The “Great Patriotic War” exhibition hall presents materials about Atyrau soldiers who fought in the war, as well as their personal belongings.
The hall was created for the 65th anniversary of Victory and today houses displays dedicated to the Brest Fortress, the battles for Moscow, Stalingrad, and the defense of Leningrad, in which local soldiers took part. The exhibition also features photographs of Atyrau warriors who participated in the liberation of Hero Cities, samples of weapons, and personal belongings used during the war years.
Of particular interest are the military uniforms and personal documents of Admiral of the Fleet Lev Vladimirskiy and test pilot Shaukhat Yesetov, along with their photographs from the front and with their families, as well as images of the 1981 reunion of liberator veterans in Moscow.
Visitors can see photographs and biographies of Atyrau Heroes of the Soviet Union, full cavaliers of the Order of Glory, Kazakhstan’s National Hero Khiuaz Dospanova, as well as letters of gratitude, certificates, personal belongings, ammunition, orders and medals, soldiers’ tableware, and a model of the PO-2 aircraft.
The showcases present the history of the Guryev Infantry School and military hospitals, publications from that time, communication equipment, front-line letters and documents, and items of home-front workers that testify to their courage and selfless labor, along with a photographic chronicle of the harsh war years.
A special place is given to photographs and documents of war and labor veterans, as well as images of victory parades featuring Kazakh and Atyrau front-line soldiers, with their orders and medals occupying an honorable place in the exhibition.
