The Inder District Museum was founded by the decision of the Bureau of the Inder District Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan on September 30, 1977, and began its work on a voluntary basis on November 5 of the same year.
In 1990, the museum was reopened as a branch of the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore and currently functions as an important cultural institution engaged in promoting the history, culture, and prominent figures of the region.
The total area of the building is 240 square meters. The museum houses 5 exhibition halls:
“History of the District”
“Honored Figures of the Inder District”
“The Great Patriotic War”
“Ethnography”
“Nature of the Region”
The exhibition presents materials on the history of the district, permanent displays on historical figures of the Kazakh people such as Makhambet Utemisuly, Murat Monkeuly, and the religious figure Aiyp-Khoja Bekenuly, as well as national costumes, folk applied art, and many other valuable items and documents. In total, the museum’s collection contains 5,750 storage units.
The Inder District Museum plays an important role in preserving and promoting the historical and cultural values of the region. The museum improves the scope and content of its work in line with modern requirements, enhances the knowledge of the younger generation, organizes exhibitions and educational cultural events, and conducts excursions aimed at fostering respect for the country’s history.
