Museum History

The “Boran Nysanbayev Museum of Military Glory” was established by order of the Department of Culture of the Atyrau Region on April 29, 2011, No. 83.

Currently, the branch’s collection holds 634 exhibits. The exhibition hall, with an area of 132 square meters, features 10 thematic displays:

-        Childhood and school years of Boran Nysanbayev;

-         The beginning of the Second World War;

-         Diorama “The War and the Feat of Boran Nysanbayev”;

-        Victory. The return of heroes to the Motherland; Heroes of the Soviet Union from the Atyrau Region;

-        “Qaldyrgan izin mangilik” — about Munira Turgaliyeva, founder of the museum and Honored Worker of Public Education of the USSR;

-        Models of the school named after Hero of the Soviet Union Boran Nysanbayev;

-        Kazakh heroines Manshuk Mametova and Aliya Moldagulova, as well as the first Kazakh female pilot, People’s Hero of Kazakhstan Khiuaz Dospanova;

-        Tribute to our veterans. Participants of the Great Patriotic War from the Inder District;

-        Exhibitions dedicated to internationalist soldiers from the village of Koktogai who fought in the Afghan War of 1979–1989.

          The museum presents materials about the Great Patriotic War of           1941–1945 and about the life and heroic deeds of the Kazakh hero Boran Nysanbayev: documents, personal belongings, artifacts reflecting his military path, the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR awarding him the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as his wartime tunic and pilot cap. All of this underscores the importance of the museum in patriotic education and the promotion of heroism.

          In addition, the hall features an interactive touchscreen kiosk with a virtual tour, photo and video materials, the biography of Hero of the Soviet Union Boran Nysanbayev, as well as biographies and photographs of front-line soldiers and home-front workers from the village of Koktogai.

          The “Boran Nysanbayev Museum of Military Glory” is a significant center of patriotic education that, through its exhibitions, revives the memory of the past and calls for honoring the feats of veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Afghan War.
