Conference dedicated to the 800th anniversary of Sultan Beybarys

With the support of Akimat of Atyrau region, the department of culture, archives and documentation of Atyrau region, Atyrau regional local history museum organized a republican scientific and practical conference on the topic “Historical figures of Deshti Kipchak: Beybarys and his period”, dedicated to the 800th anniversary of Sultan Beybarys, the founder of the Mamluk state. The main goal of the conference is to study the latest information about Sultan Beybarys, the son of the Kipchak steppe, introduce it into scientific circulation, determine his place in domestic historical science, and also promote widely his legacy among the younger generation.

For the attention of conference guests, an exhibition “Historical figures of Deshti Kipchak: Beybarys and his period” was organized from the fund of the Atyrau regional local history museum. The exhibition presents biographical data of Sultan Beybarys, parts of stones recovered from his tomb, Mamluk guns of the XVII-XVIII centuries, photographic drawings of the Beybarys mosque, madrassah, photographs of the monument of Sultan Beybarys, located on the administrative square of Sultan Beybarys in Atyrau city, etc.

The conference was opened with a speech by Deputy Akim of the region K. Nurtayev, who wishedsuccess to the participants.

Professor of islamic and coptic archeology at Mansoura university, dean of the faculty of tourism, doctor of science, specialist of Mamluk studies Muhammad Ahmed Abdel Latif presented with a report - “Hain Jalut... Al Magriqat Al Fassilat". Director of the Abu Hanifa research centre of the "Nur-Mubarak" university of islamic culture of Egypt,doctor of philology, professor Shamshadin K. presented with a report - "The role of the Turkish Mamluks in the history of islam in the middle ages". Head of the department of islamic archeology of the faculty of arts, professor, specialist of Mamluk studies at Mansoura university Abdullah Ati Abdulhafiz Ali Nasir presented with a report - “After the conquest, until the end of the Mamluk era - the history of the Fatimids”. Professor of the department of history of Kazakhstan at the Eurasian national university named after L.N. Gumilyov, doctor of historical sciences, academician of Academy of history and social sciences, member of the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan SadykovT.presented with a report - “Beybarys and his period”. The chief director of the archaeological region of South Cairo, senior researcher at the department of islamic archeology, specialist of Mamluk studies (Egypt) - Emad Osman Abdelkader Mahran presented with a report - “Al Sultan Al Mansur Siif Addin Kalun”. Professor of the department of history of Uzbekistan at Fergana state university, doctor of historical sciences (republic of Uzbekistan) Usmonov B. presented with a report - “Information on the social and economic life of the Fergana valley of Babura”. Senior researcher at the centre for research of the Golden Horde and Tatar people named after M.A.Usmanov, Sh. Marjani institute of history of the republic of Tatarstan, candidate of historical sciences (Russia, Kazan) Saifetdinova E. presented with a report - “Sultan Beybarys and his role in the development of relations between the Golden Horde and Mamluk Egypt”. Director of the research institute for the study of the Jochi Ulus, PhD Sabitov Zh. presented with a report “Mongol-Kipchak wars in 1220-1230.”
