The chronicle of museum’s historical event
On 22 July 1939–the resolution No. 23 about opening of regional museum was issued by the Guryev regional advisory committee of Kazakh SSR high counsel presidium.
On 5 November 1940 –the museum accepted the first guestson the place of 240 cube meters former Russian church. Ordzhonidze (Aiteke bi) Street, building 14.
On 28 April 1953,the museum conducted activity under Regional Culture Department according tothe resolution “On forming Culture Department” ofKazakh SSR high counsel presidium.
In 1974, issued a reference about the first exposition rooms under title“Guryev Regional Museum”
In 1978, the square of museum building was widened for 900 square meters for account of additional construction.
In 1978, excavation work was conducted in Aktobe along with archeology institution of the USSR Scientific Academy.

In 1986 Atyrau regional local history museum’s stuffs rendered methodical assistance in opening memorial museum of K.Sagyrbayuly in Altynzhar village, Volodar district, Astrakhan region on request of regional party committee.
In 1986, Makhambet social museum was renamed into M.Utemisov historical and memorial museum.

On 21 September 1991, a historical museum named after I.Taimanuly was opened in respect of 200 years birthday of I.Taimanuly in Akkystau village of Isataydistric. The specialist of «Kazmuseirestavratsiya» workshop in Almaty arranged the exposition of museum and regional museum stuff rendered methodical assistance.

In 1999, at the result of archeological excavation work lead by West Kazakhstan Scientific Expedition of A.Margulan Archeology Institution, sarmat tribe’s king “Altynadam” (jewel of a man) lived between III BC and IV CE has found inAraltobe village of Zhylyoy district of Atyrau region.
In 2000, a figure of sarmat king “Altynadam” was restored and placed in exposition room of museum.
