“National Heritage — An Eternal Treasure”: Regional Practices in Preserving Intangible Cultural Heritage Discussed
As part of the regional event “National Heritage — An Eternal Treasure”, dedicated to the preservation, study, and promotion of intangible cultural heritage, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore hosted a networking session entitled “Dialogue of Regions” focused on sharing professional experience.
The professional discussion brought together heads and specialists from the cultural sectors of the West Kazakhstan and Mangystau regions, heads of district culture departments in the Atyrau region, heads and staff of cultural and arts institutions, museum specialists, university professors and teaching staff, as well as experts engaged in the study of intangible cultural heritage.
The event was moderated by Abil Taufikuly Zholamanov, Head of the Department of Culture and Languages Development of the Atyrau Region. He introduced participants to the goals and objectives of the event and invited the speakers to present their reports.
The first speaker was Rustam Rakhimovich Muzafarov, Deputy Chair of the National Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, who delivered a presentation entitled “Implementation of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
Other speakers who shared their views and practical experience in their respective fields included Meruert Sanatkyzy Kurmangaliyeva, Professor and expert in national intangible cultural heritage; Shakhman Nagimuly Nagimov, Professor at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences; Saltanat Zulkhaidarkyzy Yeleusinova, Director for the Atyrau Region of the republican public association “Urshyk”; and Zhanar Toreniyazkyzy Abish, Head of the “Kazakia” Public Foundation.
During the networking session, specialists from different regions shared their experience in preserving, studying, promoting, and transmitting intangible cultural heritage to future generations, while also discussing current issues facing the field.
The “Dialogue of Regions” platform became an important forum for exchanging professional experience, preserving national values, promoting traditional culture, and strengthening professional ties between the regions.
