Opening of the International Exhibition “World of the Nomad”
On June 18, 2026, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore hosted the grand opening of the “World of the Nomad” exhibition, presented by the N. N. Palmov National Museum of the Republic of Kalmykia of the Russian Federation.
The event was attended by representatives of the cultural sector, archive specialists, members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, lecturers and students of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, media representatives, and residents of the city.
In his opening remarks, Museum Director M. Kipiev emphasized the importance of the historical and cultural ties connecting the Atyrau region and the Republic of Kalmykia, as well as the value of friendly relations between the two peoples.
During the event, Tsoros Altman Valeryevich, Deputy Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kalmykia, introduced the objectives and content of the exhibition and expressed his gratitude to the host institution. The museum’s Academic Secretary and Candidate of Historical Sciences, Valery Batyrov, presented the exhibition’s scholarly concept and conducted a guided tour.
The exhibition featured more than 60 artifacts showcasing the historical and cultural heritage of the Kalmyk people. The display included traditional musical instruments, objects of nomadic daily life, horse tack, handicrafts, elements of traditional games, Buddhist religious artifacts, thangka paintings, sculptures, prayer books, and ethnographic materials.
The exhibition aimed to promote the shared cultural heritage of nomadic peoples, strengthen friendship between nations, and foster international cultural cooperation.
The “World of the Nomad” exhibition provided visitors with an opportunity to explore the rich historical and cultural heritage of nomadic civilization.
