Exhibition “Birds in the Museum Collection: The Story Behind Every Artifact”
On April 1, 2026, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore, jointly with the Aqzhaiyk State Nature Reserve, organized an educational event and exhibition entitled “Birds in the Museum Collection: The Story Behind Every Artifact” to mark World Bird Day.
The purpose of the event was to increase knowledge about bird biodiversity, promote environmental awareness, and foster the idea of nature conservation through museum exhibits.
The exhibition “Ornithofauna of Our Region” featured bird specimens from the museum’s collection, as well as a photo exhibition provided by the Aqzhaiyk State Nature Reserve. Visitors were introduced to rare bird species listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan.
During the event, participants took part in the “Recognize the Bird” quiz, the “Think and Find the Answer” question-and-answer competition, as well as educational and creative activities such as poster-making and essay readings.
As part of the cultural program, students and performers presented musical and dance performances. In addition, an ornithologist delivered a lecture on the biodiversity of birds in the Caspian region.
