Temporary Exhibition “Results of Research on Medieval Cities Conducted in 2025”

On March 27, 2026, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore hosted the opening of the temporary exhibition “Results of Research on Medieval Cities Conducted in 2025,” aimed at presenting the region’s medieval cultural heritage from a new perspective.

The exhibition was organized to introduce the public to valuable artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations carried out in 2025 at two major historical sites of the region — the Sarayshyk settlement and the Aktobe–Laeti settlement.

The exhibition featured ceramic vessels and their fragments, slipped and burnished pottery, polychrome kashin ceramics, pottery fragments decorated with blue and black paint, more than 30 copper coins dating to the Golden Horde period, silver and bronze ornaments, glass beads, and other archaeological artifacts. In addition, objects made of iron, copper, stone, and glass, as well as restorable vessel samples, were displayed.

During excavations at the Aktobe–Laeti settlement, a group of coins fused together was discovered near a firing kiln and was also included in the exhibition.

The exhibition was attended by archaeologists, historians, scholars and students of Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, museum staff, and residents of the city.
