Seminar-Training “Modern Museum Project: Current Formats and Methods” Concludes
From October 14 to 16, 2026, the Atyrau Regional Museum of Fine and Decorative Arts named after Shaimardan Sariyev hosted a regional project-based educational seminar-training entitled “Modern Museum Project: Current Formats and Methods.”
The three-day seminar was attended by staff from the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore and its affiliated branches. The main objectives were to enhance museum professionals’ qualifications, develop their skills in applying effective methods and approaches to the design and implementation of contemporary museum projects, and facilitate the exchange of experience.
During the seminar, participants attended lectures and master classes on developing modern museum projects, creating innovative exhibitions, engaging with visitors, museum marketing, and building a museum brand. Participants also presented projects they had prepared in advance and defended them through group work. The discussions covered project goals and objectives, expected outcomes, funding opportunities, and mechanisms for information support.
The seminar-training featured two lecturers from Almaty: Galiya Faizullina, a museum studies specialist, Candidate of Historical Sciences, and associate professor at Turan University, and Guldana Safarova, an art historian and curator of museum projects. They provided feedback and recommendations on the participants’ projects and offered professional guidance.
Following the three-day seminar, the participants’ projects were evaluated, and several museum institutions received awards in special categories. Specifically, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore and the Makhambet Utemisov Historical and Cultural Reserve received the award for “Promising Idea”, the Paleontology Museum received awards for “Best Project for Promoting Cultural Heritage” and “Audience Choice”, the Kurmangazy District Museum received the award for “Best Educational Project”, the Inder District Museum was recognized in the “Children and the Museum” category, the Isatay District Museum received the award for “Promoting the Museum in the Digital Space”, and the Kh. It became an important practical platform for participants to expand their professional knowledge and gain guidance for implementing new projects
