“Museum Vibe: Harmony of the past and the future” festive event

On May 18, 2026, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore hosted a large-scale cultural and educational event entitled “Museum Vibe: Harmony of the Past and the Future” in celebration of International Museum Day.

The purpose of the event was to promote historical and cultural heritage, increase young people’s interest in history, and demonstrate the continuity between tradition and innovation.

As part of the evening program, the museum’s “Independent Kazakhstan” hall was reopened following a re-exposition. Visitors were presented with a renewed exhibition highlighting the historical milestones of Kazakhstan’s years of independence and the development of the region. The exhibition included 176 museum artifacts.

The event featured a cultural and educational meeting with archaeologist and PhD holder Kasenali Aibar Erlanuly, who was specially invited from Astana. During the meeting, participants discussed archaeology, the preservation of historical heritage, and the promotion of national values.

Master classes dedicated to the promotion of traditional crafts were organized throughout the event. Laila Zharkynkyzy demonstrated the art of making tekemet felt carpets, Talgat Erkanatuly introduced visitors to pottery-making, and Gulzira Kubashkyzy presented crochet techniques. In addition, local artisans showcased their works at an exhibition-fair.

Visitors were offered a variety of interactive activities, including the national competition game “Baige,” the creative platform “My favorite artifact,” and interactive programs such as “Selfie with an artifact,” “Hidden personality,” and “Voices of great personalities.”

Guided tours were conducted throughout the museum halls, while young tour guides provided visitors with historical and educational information.

The event brought together representatives of government institutions, members of the intellectual community, cultural workers, and residents of the city. In total, approximately 912 people attended the event.

As a result, the “Museum Vibe” project demonstrated the museum’s transformation into a modern cultural space and contributed to strengthening the connection between the museum and society.
