Master Class in Traditional Archery “Precision — the legacy of our ancestors”
On March 20, 2026, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore organized a master class in traditional archery entitled “Precision — the legacy of our ancestors” within the framework of the Nauryznama decade and the National Heritage project, dedicated to March 20 — National Sports Day.
The purpose of the event was to introduce participants to the historical and cultural significance of traditional archery, promote this national sport, and strengthen the patriotic spirit of the younger generation.
The event featured Ernar Makhmet, the first Champion of the Republic of Kazakhstan in traditional archery and coach of the “Batu Khan’s Arrow” National Sports Club. Military personnel from Military Unit No. 41321, museum staff, media representatives, and residents of the city also took part in the event.
The event consisted of two parts. During the educational session, participants learned about the history of traditional archery, its techniques, and the distinctive features of marksmanship. In the practical session, participants had the opportunity to practice archery skills on the museum’s outdoor grounds while observing all safety requirements.
The event was aimed at promoting national sports and widely popularizing the traditional art of archery.
