According to the annualplan of Atyrau regional local history museum, archaeological research continues in Karakudyk 1 and Karakudyk 2 burial mounds near the village of Karabau of Kyzylkoga district in Atyrau region. Currently, work is underway to study the soil cover of  the surface layer of these monuments. Russian scientist, Doctor of historical sciences, professor archaeologist P.M. Koltsov continued his research work as a scientific consultant. He visited the archaeological site and consulted with museum archaeologists about further research into the mounds.
