On May 17-18, the local history museum of the Atyrau region hosted the regional competition-exhibition "Kogamdyk muzeyler kazynasy" of school museums.

This competition, which was organized in order to popularize the activities of state museums in educational institutions for the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the region, was attended by 13 schools of urban, district and rural significance from the city of Atyrau and districts of Kurmangazy, Isatay, Zhylyoi and Makhambet.

The head of the department of culture, development of languages and archives of the Atyrau region A. Zholamanov in the preface noted that school museums occupy a high place in society, and wished the participants success. As the chairman of the jury were invited an archaeologist, phD postdoctoral student of the University "Astana" A.Kasenalin,  head of the West Kazakhstan Regional Museum of History and Local History M. Ersaev, a teacher of Atyrau University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov, Candidate of Historical Sciences K. Mukhitov, Deputy Head of the Local History Museum of Atyrau Region S. Gazimova, Chief Curator of the Museum Fund of the Local History Museum of Atyrau Region B. Khasanova.

At the first stage of the two-day competition, 13 participants with reports and high-quality videos defended the creative works of their museums with the help of a museum portfolio.

The second stage continued with the presentation of expositions specially brought by the museum management. Each museum created and presented an exhibition of the best exhibits of their schools-museums in the exhibition hall of the Ethnography Museum.

According to the results of the competition in the nomination "The best employee of the school museum" were awarded the head of the museum of the secondary school named after Amangeldy №10 of the Zhylyoi district A. Ramazanova and and head of the museum of the secondary school named after B. Nysanbaev of Atyrau city A.Enbaev. In the nomination "The best exhibit of the school museum" won the school named after G. Masalimov of the Isatay district, Secondary school No. 3 of the village of Shokpartogai, Zhylyoi district and Secondary school of the village of Esbol, Makhambet district. The title of "The Best Rural School Museum" was given to the Kyzyluy secondary school in Akzhayik village, Makhambet district, Atyrau region and the title of "The Best District School Museum" was given to the museum of the boarding school named after. Z. Serikkaliuly of the Kurmangazy district. The best city school museum was recognized as the museum of secondary school No. 33 named after K. Kaysenov, Atyrau. All winners were awarded cash prizes and memorable gifts.

The exhibits, which were rated as the best according to the results of the competition, were transferred to the scientific fund of the local history museum of Atyrau region.
