In order to familiarize students with new information about extinct animals, as well as to increase interest in the marine wildlife, an educational lesson on the topic "The Secret of the Chalk Mountains" was held using the ZOOM video communication program in the paleontological museum of the Local History Museum of Atyrau Region on March 16, 2021.
A student of the 6th grade of the Makash Bekmukhamedov secondary school took part in the lesson. During the lesson, students were shown the fossilized remains of ancient invertebrates and vertebrates found in the Aktolagai chalk mountains located 60 km from the city of Kulsary and on the border of Atyrau and Aktobe regions, as well as colorful photographs, the first appearance of invertebrates and vertebrates (sponges, corals, bivalve mollusks, ammonites, belemnites, sea urchins, sea lilies, starfish, sharks, rays, dinosaurs, mammoths, etc.), features of their habitat, species, detailed information about the stages of reproduction and the reasons for extinction. In total, 20 students took part in the cognitive lesson.
