November 8, 2017 International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Journey of Ibn Battuta on the Silk Road: Promoting Dialogue among Cultures" was organized by the Local history museum of Atyrau region and Kh. Dosmukhamedov State University with the support of the Akimat of Atyrau region and the Department of Culture, archives and documentation.
The purpose of the conference: in connection with the article of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev "A look into the future: modernization of public consciousness" to propagate sacred places, modernization of scholars research for the future generations, to start deep research of the historical and cultural heritage of the Caspian Sea region.
The conference was attended by scientists from the far and near abroad, namely, from Turkey professor of the Ankara University Gondugduy Abdullah, from Azerbaijan candidate of historical sciences Ismailzade Piraga, from Kazakhstan professor, doctor of historical sciences Beimbet Yermukhanov, Zeynolla Samashev, doctor of historical sciences Murat Sydykov, head research center "Sacral Kazakhstan" Berik Abdygaliuly, head of the scientific research institute "Halyk Kazynasy" Akhan Ongaruly, scholars in the field of philology, cultural studies, staff from Astrakhan Museum-Reserve, heads and employees of the museums of Astana, Almaty, South Kazakhstan, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan regions, local historians, history teachers, students.
The conference was opened with a welcoming speech by the deputy akim of Atyrau region A.Nautiyev and wished good luck to the conference work.
The moderator of the plenary work of the conference was professor, doctor of historical sciences Zeynolla Samashev. At the plenary session of the conference, reports were given on the following topics:

At the end of the sectional sessions, a collection of materials was presented.
In the second part of the conference the participants visited the excavation sites of the medieval settlement Saraichik and the museum-reserve "Khan Horde Saraichik".
At the conclusion of the conference, at 6 pm, theatrical performances were presented at Makhambet Drama Theater: the Culture of the Nomads, the Great Silk Road, and A Girl in a Golden Boat from Saraichik, and also the participants of the conference were granted with a letter of thanks from the regional akim N.Nogayev.As a result of the conference, the relevance and modern significance of current considering issues were noted; the conference participants unanimously dwelt on the importance of the discussed issues and its characteristic impact on the political, economic, and social development of the current world.
