In the Local History Museum of Atyrau region on September 27, 2017 at 11.00 there was a meeting on the topic "A geologist who discovered the wonderful secrets of the mineral resource".
The meeting was dedicated to Makash Rakhmetov, a well-known geologist who made a huge contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry in Kazakhstan, the Honorary Explorerof the RoK, the discoverer of the RoK fields, the academician of the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Honorary Oilman of the USSR. It was very important to propagandize the heroic deedsof Makash Rakhmetov to the younger generation.
Makash Rakhmetov was born in 1932 on September 15 in the village of Akshelek, Atyrau (Guryev) region, Kyzylkugadistrict. In 1956 he graduated from the S.M. Kirov State University, began his career as a collector of the exploration area Zhantai. Since 1957, he worked as a geologist, senior geologist in the Tonirekshyn, Zhanasu, Sarykum and Borankul fields related to the Kulsary exploration office "Kazakhstan Oil Exploration".
Since 1973, he was the head of the testing factoryof the BalykshyExploratory Drilling Department. Since 1977, he was the chief geologist in the newly discovered Caspian Drilling Administration, after becamethe chief geologist at the BalykshyDrilling Department. Due toseparation of the BalykshyDrilling Department, he became the chief geologist in the Atyrau Drilling Department.
In 1957, he started to study the geological structure of the large structures of the South Emba Paleozoic salt foundation in Tonirekshin, Zhanasai and Sarykum districts. This study influenced the commencement of works of very important geological value, at the Deserted, and the discovery of the Tengiz field.
Makash Rakhmetov prior to the merger of the BalykshyDrilling Department and the Caspian Drilling Administration contributed to the discovery of 10 oil and gas fields.
He worked on the discovery of the Rovnoye, Botakan, Akingen, Akkudyk, Massabai, Karagan, South-East Kamysty, South-East Novobogat, West Novobogat, East Makat, East Kokarna, Airankul, Maten, East Prorva, Western Prorva, Kara-arka, and Gran, conducted well experiments, for further development, determination of reserves. Makash Rakhmetov made a particularly large contribution to development in the Prorva field. Several times he was elected as a member of the plenum of the Emba District Party Committee. He is an excellent worker in USSR oil production and holder of the title "Honorary Oilman". Member of the Academy of Natural Sciences. More than once he was awarded with medals of the USSRand the RoK.
The slides about student years, on the work in the fields, and also received the grades and awards of Makash Rakhmetovwere presented for visitor’s attention. During the event, the talented geologist Makash Rakhmetov shared his memories of his childhood, about his student years and fields exploration.
During the event, Makash Rakhmetov expressed gratitude to the staff of the museum for the meeting with the students.
At the end of the event, the museum staff expressed great gratitude and gave him books as a souvenir.
The meeting was attended by teachers and students of the Atyrau Industrial College, museum staff, a total of 30 people.
