«Sheber-Fest»

On July 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., the Sheber-Fest master class was held at the Atyrau Regional Museum of Local History among masters who revive crafts left over from their ancestors.

The master class was organized in order to glorify the folk craft, which has been part of the national heritage of the Kazakh people for centuries, to read, set an example and promote folk art to the younger generation, to introduce the works of folk craftsmen.

During the master class, master N. Kaliev, an expert in his field specializing in wood and leather processing, showed how to use leather and metal and explained in detail how he made handicrafts, ancient musical instruments - dombra, asatayak, tuyaktas, dabyl, dauylpaz and a chest inlaid with bone, kobyz made of wood and a tegene vessel, which he donated to the museum fund. And the jeweler E. Arystanov explained that the shape of the jewelry is obtained by heating and welding, using various techniques, as well as how to make a relief pattern on the ring by engraving, etching, engraving, silvering, embossing. Felting is one of the jobs that requires strength and patience. Masters of felting Muratkyzy M. and Yerzhankyzy G. explained to those present that in the process of making felt, wool from merino wool is laid together, and a pattern is cut and printed from the felt, moistened with water and soaped, wrapped again, and then washed with warm water and dried.

At the same time, tailor A. Suesinova explains that patchwork is a real art, a special kind of sewing that allows you to save on the remnants of fabric. Our mothers sewed and wished that the child would grow up healthy and continue the birth, paying attention to every detail, cut. The master told the secrets and methods of patchwork and noted that today's master class contained a lot of information that can be passed on to the next generation.

The master class was attended by master woodworker and metalworker Nursultan Moldaguly, jeweler, blacksmith Esim Nurlygayinuly, master seamstress Akhrash Ayashkyzy, felting masters Gulzada Yerzhankyzy and Mayra Muratkyzy, people from the regional center of the Youth Resource, students of the secondary school named after Makash Bekmukhambetov and others guests of the city.

At the end of the event, the deputy head of the museum, S. Kalitkyzy, thanked all the guests of the event and presented souvenirs and letters of thanks on behalf of the museum staff.
